Cody, WY

Annual New Years ice trip.  This year to Cody Wyoming.  Left Madison after work and by 6am a flat in Gillette Wy, after 13 hours of continuous driving.  We lucked out on finding a tire in town and got one for 36 bucks installed and balanced!  wow.

One of the coolest rock formations in the Big Horn mountains.  A HUGE monocline.

There is always rock

The Ice in Wisconsin sucks...the Snow in Wisconsin sucks...when will the cold and snow come to stay?!?!

This weekend I bailed on the Tuscobia Ultra. I don't have a bike, don't want to run that far and the snow was so thin I didn't want to carry my skis.  But, I have climbed 7 of the last 8 days, set drytool routes at the gym on my rest day and got a workout in this am at Monkey Bar gym. Throw in a few Trail runs as well this past week, and I am spent!

SO, when you can't ice climb, go rock climbing the weekend before Christmas.

Fruit boots part 2.0

http://climbs2high.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-project-fruit-boots.html

I have the Crampons and a new rubber sole on the boots.  My next step is to line up the crampon parts and drill through the sole of the boots to bolt the crampons on to the bottom.  I am headed to the hardware store tonight to get some T-nuts and bolts to use and install.  I am also going to add some silicone calk to the bolt holes to keep it water tight.  I hope to update this and finish the project this weekend as I will be on the road for the next few weeks working.

Meeting new people

http://sponsormeow.wordpress.com/

I met Samantha and Roger in the Red last weekend.  They are a fun couple and have a funny blog.  Please sponsor them if you get the chance!  ;)  Hopefully I will run into them again sometime and we can climb some frozen water together.   Meeting new people is always fun and its great to have friends that live across the country, or in their case, CANADA!!!

Jon Jugenheimer has been climbing Ice for the last few years around the great lakes region.  From Madison, and possessing the desire to drive long distances in the winter, he has explored Wisconsin, Minnesota, the UP of Michigan, Iowa (yes, I said Iowa) and Ontario, Canada, Eh?!
He authored the Guide Book, An Ice Climbers Guide to Munising, Michigan and helped in the organization of the Nipigon Ice Fest in 2010.  He has attempted to farm ice, has climbed in a quarry, along road cuts and in mud, cuz that’s what you do as a Southern Wisconsin Ice climber!
